My Bathing Beauties

We finally have gotten some warm weather – so the kids and I hit the pool.  I can not believe that it will be back to school in 11 days.  Where did the summer go???  I really enjoy being home with all the munchkins – the worst part is the trail of mess that follows them :)  -the best is just having them here with me.  It is neat to watch their personalities develop and grow.

Josh loves to float – and keep his mouth open.  He is not afraid of the water and also enjoys jumping in and making a splash.

Fish Fry

We had the kids’ fish fry on Saturday the eighth of August.  There were about 120 people in attendance – it was a good time.  The weather was perfect all morning and afternoon.  We set up ladderball and two games of horseshoes.  Also set up a couple of tents and started frying the wings and fish and fresh cut french fries – then just as luck would have it the weather turned and it rained!  Now this didn’t come as much of a surprise because it has been raining all summer long in PA.  So the party was set to start at 4pm and the rain came right on time – 3:55 !!!!  Couldn’t have worked out any better :)

Well – we ate, and talked, and ate some more – there was enough food for an army and I am not exagerating!  There was plenty of food.  Then it kept on raining….  and drizzling….  at least we didn’t have any tornados or any strong winds….just rain!

The party came to a slow end as people collected their soaking, soppy children and took them home for baths.

We did have one incident – a robbery – that the story need not all be told but Lydia’s bike, our fire ring and yes- Troy’s cell phone all went on hiatus for a day – fortunately we knew who took them and they were all returned – but not until after the purchase of a new phone – so the lesson learned is not to trust family that you thought you could or the friends that come with them.  And when having to approach the said subject it doesn’t give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

All in all, it was a great day – sorry no pictures – my camera took a kerplunk and the new one is on order.

Some Catching Up

"The little boys" in the basket.

The last week of school (yes, I am a bit behind) both Jay and Lydia got matching kitties - Maisy (as in Crazy Maisy) and Nala....

Lydia was ready for her close-up... (except the bit of chocolate on her lips)

Amazement

The other day as I sat working on the computer with four little people sitting on me, leaning on me and reading over my shoulder it occured to one of them that "hey, mom doesn't look at the letters on the keyboard when she is typing". After the announcement was made they all watched in awe as I typed away - then they got the great idea to say what I should type as they watched... first it was Ehrensberger (I did pretty well with that one), then it was Jay, then Lydia, then Jack, then Joshua, then Angie, ... the list of words went on and on and on.... The point to my story is that 1. it is cool to be an "awesome mom" and 2. it is even neater to have such wonderful little lives that think that I am the "best mom". Isn't it simply amazing how wonderful children can be?! And how great it is to have the honor of being called "mom", "momma", "mommy" and "omma" and of course the never ending "MMMOOOOOMMMM!!!!"

Time Flies 6.29.2009

June is coming to a close already! Time flies when you are having fun. The kids and I have enjoyed some nice summer days at the pool - this week looks pretty bleak as far as the weather goes. I have lots of packing to do - we head to VA Beach on Saturday - July 4th - for an entire week!!!! I'm due for a vacation!
Lydia had her second to last softball game tonight - she made some hits, some plays and got to be the catcher - she is so cute in that outfit - although I don't have a picture to prove it...
Here are some pictures from Sara and Anthony's wedding...

Softball, Flowers and A Special Day

Lydia has started her softball season - this is her first year and she LOVES it. One of her favorite things about it - no Boys!!!!

We have "beautiful" weeds that we are blessed to see each and every Spring - and let's face it - I do not have the desire to go tramp around through damp grass spreading and spreading weed
killer - so I have begun to accept them for what they are. But the do make for some great picture opportunities. Joshua also is growing like a weed.

Lydia - Lydia - Lydia: she is the only person that I know that gets so excited for her birthday. The boys enjoy their special day, but Lydia - she breathes in each and every moment of her birthday with pure delight. She jumps, she bounces, she shreeks with excitement - she LOVES her birthday. She loves to be sung to in the morning by her mommy, she loves to have that extra attention, she loves to have a PARTY - and she does party. She loves the presents, the family, the friends (that she invites on her own). Lydia loves her birthday. And she had a wonderful party again this year. I can't believe that she is six.

Here is the story of the extra friends this year. On Thursday evening she asked me if one of her friends at school could borrow one of her stuffed animals. I said that she better just keep it home because school is almost over and when would she get it back? Her response was "when she comes to my birthday party." I say "Oh Lydi, we didn't invite your friends from school." "Oh yes I did - I promised Gina and Breanna and Samantha that they could come." - Well me being the "cool" mom that I am got on the horn and invited Gina, Breanna and Samantha to Lydi's party and even with the short notice (Her party was on Sunday) they were all able to make it - and even brought her a gift. That was one more part of Lydia's special day - extra friends. I wasn't sure how the day would go - I didn't want anyone left out - but I think that it went better than expected and the kids all seemed to have a great time.

Now we are on the final last week countdown of school - 3 1/2 days left! Then summer begins!
