Jack Turns Five

and other things….

Jack had a fabulous fifth birthday.  It still blows my mind that another one of my babies has reached this age.  He seems so grown up sometimes.

Proud

As I watched my two oldest children walk into school today I couldn’t help but smile and swell with pride – and thank God for such miracles.  Knowing where Jay started and seeing where he is today is such a great accomplishment for him.  When he started Kindergarten there was no way that we could meander from his typical daily schedule.  He rode the bus to school even on the days that I had to drive Lydia – he always needed that consistency in his schedule.  Now I can say in the morning that I am driving or they are riding the bus and the same for the afternoon and he just goes with it, it has taken him a long time to get to this point and has been a true struggle for him, but he is there!  I am so proud of him.  And when I do drop them off at school he always waits (and waits) for Lydia to get to the door and holds it for her.  And that makes me a proud momma.

And on another note, we are still waiting for summer – Jack has a countdown going as to when the pool opens….

Jay – the newest picture

Another snapshot of how Jay has changed his looks.  His swelling is continuing to go down and he is loving his new look.  He wonders if when he doesn’t have to wear a hat anymore will the kids at school know who he is????

My 31st Birthday Party

Troy came home with a surprise for me, after supper I left the room and when I came back into the kitchen this is what I found…

The kids were so excited – they were giggling so hard. We definitely had some good laughs!

By the way, check out Jay's ears! Look at how awesome they are looking (I still love his "old" ones, too, though).

February Already!

I can not believe that I have not updated since November!  Time flies when you are having fun.  It isn’t that there weren’t things to blog, I guess just a lack of time and words….

So Christmas came and went without any incidents (which is great).  Lydia woke up at 4:44 am and never went back to sleep – I later learned that she was looking through the presents under the tree with a flashlight to see who had what!

The kids all enjoyed their gifts and all of the surprises.

2010 came in like any other year… we were in bed before the ball dropped – Lydia spent the night at Brianna Grotzinger’s house and the boys and Troy and I went to Tonya and Ken’s for some celebration.  We were home in bed by 11:45 and sleeping before the ball dropped in New York City.  Lydia said she missed it too, out like a light.

January was an uneventful month – we don’t mind those around here.  And February has begun.  Jay goes to Pittsburgh – to Children’s Hospital – on Friday (the 12th) to have his otoplasty surgery.  I have not told him of this date yet because he is such a worrier and anxiety ridden child (thanks Daddy Troy and Papa Dan).  So I think that I will let him in on this information on Tuesday night, or maybe Wednesday….  Then he will have a couple of days to worry about it and ask questions and then it will be over and done.  Dr. Steven Bonawitz is performing the surgery.  I myself am a bit nervous.  I wonder how much it will change Jay’s looks.  He is my little guy and I love him how he is, but this is for him and his survival – there is enough cruelty in the world and I don’t want to submit him to any further teasing in his lifetime.  Kids are mean and so are adults.  It is too bad that that is what the world is, but unfortunately it is a cruel world outside of our safe doors.

As far as I can tell, we will be having a very busy summer – and we can’t wait.  I know that we live in PA, but really I think that I was born to live in a warmer environment, I just do not like the cold.  Anyway, Jay will be playing PeeWee baseball, Jack will be doing T-Ball and Lydi will play Softball, plus we all love to go to the pool so that is where we spend most afternoons (we are spoiled).  So we will probably have six games a week at three different fields and two different parks (thank God for Grammas and Grandpa – I hope they realize that they will be needed this summer as I can’t be everywhere at once!)  Come on Spring Time and warmer weather – we have practicing to do!

And on this Wednesday I go to sign my Little Jack up for Kindergarten, I can not believe that he will be heading off to K in the Fall…. uhhhh.  Time really does go way too fast.  It seems like just yesterday that we were trying to have a first baby and then boom, they grow up and go to school.

The Kid’s all Together

Jay's 8th BDay 308 Kennedy (7), Karli (almost 6), Lydia (6 1/2),

Jack (4 1/2), Jay (8), Joshua (2)

This was by far the absolute easiest picture I have ever taken of six children together.  I stood them in line, told them to smile and we were done.  Too easy – there has to be a catch.  Probably next time that I want their picture together they will ignore me!

Halloween Preparations and Trick-or-Treating

The kids enjoyed cleaning and carving pumpkins again this year.  Josh wasn’t too sure of the gooey stuff that was inside the pumpkin (also known as the “guts”).  They had fun making a mess and deciding what face they would put on their creatures.Jay's 8th BDay 276 Jay's 8th BDay 269 Jay's 8th BDay 272 Jay's 8th BDay 275

They trick-or-treated happily until they got tired – then Jack said that he would just wait in the car- all in all we did about 12 houses and came home with enough sugar to last for a very long time – so much that they have not even touched the bucket of candy in days – can you believe a child can get too much candy?

Jay’s 8th Birthday

I can not believe that my Baby Jay is eight years old!  He had a very nice birthday party and enjoyed all of his gifts (although he did not receive the gift he really wanted – a dirt bike).    Jay's 8th BDay 315 Jay's 8th BDay 326Jay's 8th BDay 336

Joshua’s Two!

Joshua had his second birthday.  He was very into it.  Loved the attention and all of the toys!  I made his Elmo cake – pretty proud of it, I thought it turned out well.  He even blew out all of his candles by himself!October 2009 008Joshua's 2nd BDay 037 Joshua's 2nd BDay 021

Washington Trip 049I have never laughed so much for so long as I did in WA.  We had so many heart to hearts and even more hillarious conversations!  As we laughed about it we “worked on our six-packs”.  My stomache muscles and side muscles ached from laughter – it was Fantastic!  Thanks for the wonderful time everyone!

Jack’s First Day

085

Here is Jack on his first day of 4 Year Old Preschool.  He had a bit of a rocky start with leaving his mommy but he is doing wonderful now.  In fact today his teacher told me that he is adjusting really well – wouldn’t even know that he gives me a hassle about going to school…  I think that he just likes to work me over.

And then there is Joshua – he hated to have his picture taken until this day and then he thought that he should be in all the pictures saying “Cheeeese!”.

School !!!!

The first day of school has come and gone. Jay is in second grade and Lydi is in first. Jay has Mrs. Romain – she is new at the elementary school, she moved down from middle school’s 6 and 7th grade reading. Lydia has Samantha (Tate) Nedzinski – she has been teaching for 9 years (I think) and has been at our school for 8 of them…. They both seem to like their teachers so far – we haven’t had homework yet (they only went two days so far), but I am sure that it will be coming soon – too soon, probably tomorrow.

Jack starts 4 Year Old PreSchool tomorrow. I plan on putting the big kids on the bus and taking Joshua to Gramma & Grandpa’s so I can dedicate my morning drop off with Jack. He says that he doesn’t want to go, but then he says that he is excited. I am sure that he will enjoy it and get to love it. He has Mrs. Roberts – she is a great teacher!

Campfire Sleep Over at Gramma & Grandpa’s

The Grandparents invited the kids to stay over for the night and have a fire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores….  of course they accepted the invitation.  But before the fire was ready for roasting we had to have hotdogs (on the grill) and some of Grandpa’s fresh corn – kids are so cute…
